RIYADH, SAUDI ARABIA, January 7, 2026 /EINPresswire.com/ -- The Mazayin (falcon beauty) competition at the King Abdulaziz Falconry Festival 2025 concludes on Thursday. The festival, organized by the Saudi Falcons Club, is being held at its headquarters in Malham, north of Riyadh, and runs until Saturday, attracting wide international participation.The Mazayin competition was staged over four days and featured several categories, including Shaheen Farkh (juvenile), Hurr Qarnas, locally bred Hurr Farkh, Mongolian Mujaham Hurr Farkh Qarnas, Mongolian Mughtar Hurr Farkh Qarnas, Hurr from Hurr Qarnas (local category), and Black/Dark Hurr. The final day will see competition in the Pure Gyr Farkh and Pure Gyr Qarnas categories for local participants.
The Mazayin contest focuses on selecting the most aesthetically distinguished falcons in each category. Cash prizes are awarded in every round, with SR300,000 ($80,000) for first place, SR175,000 ($46,700) for second, SR100,000 ($26,700) for third, SR30,000 ($8,000) for fourth, and SR20,000 ($5,300) for fifth.
Meanwhile, competition continued in the Al-Malwah (lure racing) event, with 48 winners crowned with King Abdulaziz Cups as of Wednesday. The races covered the International Owners, International Professionals, Local Elite and Local Professionals categories, across Pure Gyr (Farkh and Qarnas), Triple Hybrid Pure Gyr, Gyr Shaheen, Gyr Taba’, Hurr, and Shaheen divisions.
The International Owners’ races witnessed strong Gulf competition, with Qatari, Emirati, Bahraini and Kuwaiti falconers sharing the cups. In the International Professionals category, 224 falcons competed, with Emirati falconers winning eight cups and Bahraini falconers securing four.
In the Local Elite category, which featured 120 falcons qualified from preliminary rounds, falconer Amin Al-Mallah won five cups, while Team Expo also claimed five. One cup each went to Hamid Barghash Al-Mansouri and Sultan Al-Mutairi. In the Local Professionals category, 10 professionals were crowned with a total of 12 cups. Al-Malwah competitions continue with rounds for Local Owners and Local Amateurs.
The International Auction rounds also concluded with six winners, featuring 327 falcons acquired through the festival’s international auction of falcon breeding farms.
This year’s festival brings together falconers from across the world, led by participants from Gulf Cooperation Council countries, along with entries from Spain, Italy, Ireland, Pakistan and Syria. The event continues to strengthen its global standing after recording three Guinness World Records as the world’s largest falconry festival by number of participating falcons.
The King Abdulaziz Falconry Festival 2025 features 139 rounds and offers 1,012 prizes with a total value exceeding SR38 million ($10.1 million).
